Questions patients actually ask
How do I check a specialist is really board certified in Mexico?
Hair restoration is performed by dermatologists and by plastic surgeons. Ask which board certified the person doing your procedure, because the two are different certificates. Certification is a legal requirement under the General Health Law, articles 81 and 272 Bis, it runs five years, and the directory is public. Ask for the certificate number and the expiry date, then look both up.
Does it matter which city I go to?
For the credential, no: certification is national, so the same board certifies the same specialty everywhere in Mexico. For the trip, yes. A border city means a follow-up is a drive; a fly-in city means another flight. That difference usually matters more than the price.
How long should I plan to stay?
Usually a single trip of a few days. The result takes months to show, so the follow-up is mostly photographs rather than visits.
